#MarchMajesty - Celebrates MC Lyte
As we celebrate females in the Hip Hop Industry, we take a look back at the illustrious career of Legendary Brooklyn, New York native & Pioneer Lana Michelle Moorer, better known by her stage name MC Lyte. Moorer started rapping at the age of 12. She first signed to First Priority Music, a label that was founded by Nat Robinson. You might know him better as "Gizmo", one half of the group Audio Two along with his brother Kirk "Milk Dee" Robinson. She released her debut studio album (the first female solo artist to do so) Lyte As A Rock on September 13, 1988. Lyte has 5 singles that have peaked at #1 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles Chart.
