#VitalFactz: 39th Anniversary - Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five (The Message)

On this day in 1982, pioneer group Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five released their classic pioneering single The Message. This would go on to be their signature song. It was sampled numerous times, most notably by former N.W.A. member Ice Cube on the 1993 Remix of his hit Check Yo Self & Puff Daddy's Double Platinum selling from 1997 Can't Nobody Hold Me Down. Both of these tracks topped the R&B Singles Chart & The Hot Rap Singles Chart. Puff's track also topped The Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart. In 2004 Rolling Stone ranked "The Message" #51 in its List of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It peaked at #62 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart & in 2012 was named the greatest Hip Hop song of all time.
