#VitalFactz: 25th Anniversary - Snoop Doggy Dogg (Doggystyle)
On this day in 1993, Long Beach veteran Snoop Dogg (then Snoop Doggy Dogg) released his long awaited debut album Doggystyle. This album sold over 800,000 copies in its first week & went on to sell over 7 million copies in the US. It also debuted at #1 on Billboard's Hot 200 Albums Chart. Despite the immediate success of the album, this was a very trying time for Snoop. He was fighting for his life (and career) as he was facing a murder charge. Fortunately for Snoop, he beat the case & managed to reap the fruits of the hard work he (& producer Dr. Dre) put into making the album. It includes the singles Who Am I? (What's My Name?, Gin & Juice and Doggy Dogg World.
