#viatFactz: Happy Birthday: Chuck D

Happy Bornday @MrChuckD Chuck D. Born Carlton Douglas Ridenhour August 1, 1960. Chuck D (originally from Queens, new York) graduated from Roosevelt High School. From there he went to Adelphi University in Long Island to study Graphic Design (which earned him BFA). It was at Adelphi where he first met William Flavor Flav Drayton. Chuck is the leader of the legendary Hip Hop group Public Enemy, which he helped create politically and socially conscious hip hop music in the mid-1980s. In 1986 Def Jam Co-founder Rick Rubin signed Public Enemy to Def Jam Recordings (The messiah of Hip Hop labels at the time) and they started to Bring The Noise immediately. Their first album Yo! Bum Rush The Show reached Gold Status thanks to the production team (of which Chuck is also a member of) The Bomb Squad. The next 3 LP's (It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back, Fear Of A Black Planet & Apocalypse 91...The Enemy Strikes Black) all reached Platinum status, with each album scoring higher on the charts (Billboard Hot 200 Albums Chart) than the preceding album. In total, they made 5 studio albums along with the soundtrack for He Got Game with Def Jam before parting ways with the label. In, they have 13 studio albums to their credit. The group is still going strong today with Chuck D as the lead.
