Happy Birthday Melle Mel. Born Melvin Glover May 15, 1961. Glover is a founding member of the pioneer group Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five. He is also the younger brother of fellow Furious Five MC Nathaniel "Kid Creole" Glover. Their first recording was in 1979 titled Superrappin'. They later moved to Sugar Hill Records where they recorded songs like Freedom, The Birthday Party and Showdown, a collaboration with The Sugar Hill Gang. It was in 1982 however when they recorded the timeless classic The Message. Rolling Stone ranked "The Message" #51 in its List of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
