Happy Birthday @therulernyc Slick Rick. Born Richard Martin Lloyd Walters January 14, 1965. Walters was born in Mitcham, a town in the South West area of London, England to Jamaican parents. When he was 11, his family migrated to the US & settled in the Bronx. In 1984 he entered a talent showcase, which is where he met Doug E. Fresh. Impressed by Rick's talent, Doug made him a member of his Get Fresh Crew. In 1985 they released the classic single The Show which includes the even more well known B-Side La-Di-Da-Di. In 1988 he released his debut album The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick. This album achieved the success it was expected to, having reached Platinum Status with the singles Teenage Love, Children's Story & Hey Young World. In 1991 he released his follow-up studio album The Ruler's Back which included I Shouldn't Have Done it & It's A Boy. In 1994 he released his 3rd album Behind Bars. In 1999 he released the Gold Selling album The Art Of Storytelling which features the single Street Talkin'.
