Happy Birthday Run. Born Joseph Ward Simmons November 14, 1964. Simmons (now known as Rev Run) started his rise to fame in 1983 with his partner Darryl McDaniels (D.M.C.) when they dropped their debut single It's Like That & the B-Side Sucker MC. They released their debut album in 1984, which reached Gold Status & included the hit single Rock Box. Their follow-up album King Of Rock did even better as it reached Platinum Status. In 1986 they reached their peak with the release of Raising Hell. This album reached Triple Platinum status & topped The R&B Albums Chart. Despite all their success they hadn't scored a Chart topping single until 1993 when they topped the Hot Rap Singles Chart with Down With The King, produced by the Legendary Pete Rock. Together they have 1 Grammy Award & 2 Soul Train Music Awards.
