#VitalFactz: Happy Birthday - Big Daddy Kane


Happy Birthday @bigdaddykane Big Daddy Kane. Born Antonio Hardy September 10, 1968. The name Big Daddy Kane came from a variation on Caine, David Carradine's character from TV show Kung Fu and a character called "Big Daddy" Vincent Price played in the film Beach Party. He first started earning his chops in the Rap game in 1984 when he became friends with Biz Markie. He went on to pen some of Biz Markie's well known hits. His lyrical contributions eventually got him a membership in the Queens-based Juice Crew. In June of 1988 he released his full length studio album Long Live The Kane. This album reached Gold status mainly because of the classic hit Ain't No Half Steppin' as well as a few other joints such as RAW & Set It Off. Later that year he scored big again with a guest appearance on Marley Marl's posse cut The Symphony. His next 2 albums It's A Big Daddy Thing & Taste Of Chocolate also reached Gold Status. Today Kane is still doing shows dazzling crowds with the classic cuts from his heyday. On occasion, he even reunites with the other 3 rappers from The Symphony Masta Ace, Craig G & Kool G Rap) to the fans delight.
