Happy Bornday @therealmix Sir Mix-a-Lot. Born Anthony Ray August 12, 1963. Ray released his debut album Swass on the Nastymix label which he co-founded with his partner Nasty Nes. The album reached Platinum status. It features the single Posse On Broadway. In 1992 Mix-a-Lot released the album Mack Daddy, his first album on the Rick Rubin founded American Recordings Label (Formerly Def American Recordings) which was founded by Rick Rubin. This release would be his most successful to date as it charted the highest while also reaching Platinum status. it features his biggest hit, the Double Platinum selling Baby Got Back. The song earned him a Grammy in 1993 for Best Rap Solo Performance. He said on a talk show that he didn't think the song deserved a Grammy, then he said "But I ain't givin' it back." Nevertheless, the song is a classic. It also got new life in 2014 when Nicki Minaj sampled the song for her hit Ananconda, which also became a Double Platinum seller. As of July 2016, Sir Mix-a-Lot has his own radio show based in Fresno, CA.
