Happy Bornday @DaRealMonieLove Monie Love. Born Simone Gooden July 2, 1970. Monie is a well respected artist on the British Hip Hop scene. She made a huge impact in the U.S. as a featured artist on Queen Latifah's 1989 hit Ladies First, then as a guest artist on De La Soul's Buddy Remix. In 1990 she released her debut album Down To Earth, which featured her first U.S. charted single Monie In The Middle. It also featured the hit song It's A Shame (My Sister), her highest charting single to date. Both of these songs were nominated for Grammy's. Monie has had a successful career in radio as well. In 2015, Love became a DJ on Philadelphia's Boom 107.9, hosting a morning show from 6 am to 10 am. Monie Love is now a co host with Ed Lover on the Ed Lover Morning Show for Boom 92.1 in Houston, Texas.
