#VitalFactz: Rest In Peace Prince Be (PM Dawn)

Rest In Peace Prince Be Born Attrell Stephen Cordes, Jr. May 15, 1970 - June 17, 2016. In 1988, Cordes & his brother Jarrett Cordes (better known as DJ Minutemix) formed the group PM Dawn. Their catalog includes 2 Gold Albums & 2 Gold Singles. Their first Gold single Set Adrift On Memory Bliss topped the Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart. Their 2nd Gold single I'd Die Without You originally appeared on the 1992 Boomerang Soundtrack. You may remember in late '91, Prince Be ruffled a few feathers when he did an interview for Details Magazine & he criticized certain rappers, KRS-One in particular. He expressed skeptism of Mr. Parker's activism as he was quoted as saying "KRS-One wants to be a teacher, but a teacher of what?". Needless to say The Blastmaster was infuriated by that statement. A few months later (January '92) while PM Dawn was performing at New York's Sound Factory, KRS-One and his crew, Boogie Down Productions, responded by storming the show, forcing the group off the stage and performing their songs "I'm Still #1" and "The Bridge Is Over". Cordes died from renal failure, a complication of his diabetes, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune City, New Jersey at the age of 46. He is survived by his wife, Mary Sierra-Cordes and three children: Mia, Christian and Brandon.
