#VitalFactz: Happy Birthday - The D.O.C.
Happy Bornday The D.O.C. Born Tracy Lynn Curry on June 10, 1968. Sources say that D.O.C. stands for Dallas Oak Cliff, Oak Cliff being the section of Dallas, Texas where he's from. Curry first got his start as a member of the Fila Fresh Crew. At that time he was known as Doc-T. After leaving the Fila Fresh Crew, The D.O.C. relocated to Los Angeles and started collaborating with N.W.A. He co-wrote lyrics for their albums Straight Outta Compton & Niggaz4Life as well as Eazy E's Eazy-Duz-It album. Then in 1989 he released his classic debut album (produced by Dr. Dre) No One Can Do It Better. This album eventually went on to reach Platinum status. It peaked at #20 on Billboard's Hot 200 Albums Chart & topped the R&B Albums Chart. Curry is also responsible for talking Dr. Dre into making The Chronic album. In 1989 his career (and life) were nearly cut short when he was involved in a car accident. He was thrown from his vehicle & slammed face first into a tree, crushing his larynx.
